Dear Mr. Scott: -------------------------- I would liko to voice a complaint regarding the building codes in the City of Tigard. My neighbor is building an"RV Shelter"that looks for all the world like a pole barn. The structure is supposedly within the code of the city: it is exactly 5 feet from the property lire; it is no higher thdn the house; and it is supposedly attached tc,the house. There are no encioaing walls on tnis structure, it is an all metal building, it is over 20 fr:et high, and as far as I can tsll, it is attached to the house maybe by two screws or maybe just by the fact that some of the.supporting posts are touching the house. This is strictly a single family residential ne;g*orhood, not farm or manufacturing. How can the city allow a structure life this, a pole barn, to be constructed here? Think about it.......Would you like to view this from your back y-,rd? We have spoken with our neighbors and they have agreed to plant a natural barrier. (Fat chance it will hide ft.) However,I am ang,-y►hat the City of Tigard woula actually allow this type of structure in a single family residential neighborh,--ii. This is, in my estimation"visual pollution". Can't you at least require that an attra, ~arrier be placed so that the neighbor's property is not visually polluted? This is hard to do when the structure is over 20 feet high. I am sure that your training and education has prepared you to understand that when the ambience of a neigh5orhood is lowered, so are property values. We used to enjoy our backyard, it is no longer a pleasant experien-.e to eat our meals on our deck or just spend time there. Thank you for taking the time to read this. It is my hope that you will consider trying to change this section to the code to help keep harmony in neigoborhoods throughout Tigarl.
