Since the homes I ui.scussed with you are all located within Tigard city limits , Mr. Blankenship would like: City of Tigard to do the sewer service billing for all_ the properties involved. ! am providing you with a list of all the properties, in dispute and with the most current owner information we have for them. In the case of properties that have been billed in the past by U. S .A. or not billed at all , I have indicated that billing by City of Tigard should begin as of 7/1/80. U. S .A. will send a letter to the property owner -. explaining the change in billing procedure that will occur on 7/1./80 and will handle billing and c_olLection of sewer service charges for the properties through June 1980 . Please let me know i1_ you have any questions or encounter prob- lems with th.i.b tranF.fer of billing responsibility to the City. In the future, we hope to initiate a uniform procedure for correcting the billing jurisdiction for annexed properties arld preven''ing situatlutis like the orae on SW 95th from occurring. Burton 11160 SW 95th Avenue Tigard, Oregon 97223 Dear Mr. Burton: We have recently discovered that you have been receiving sewer service billings from both the Unified Sewerage Agency and the City of Tigard. City of Tigard has been sending you quarterly bills for sewer service while the Unified Sewerage Agency has been charging you a sewer service fee on your annual property Tax Statement. Obviously, you should only be paying sewer service fees to one jurisdiction. The error on your account resulted from a confusion that has existed over who was responsible for handling the sewer service accounts in your neighborhood. Some homes have been billed by the City; others by the Agency. Two properties including your own have unfortunately been charged by both. To resolve this difficulty, the Agency will now discontinue any billing for properties in your area of SW 95th,and in the future City of Tigard will handle all sewer service accounts for the homes involved. In conjunction with this decision , we are instructing the Department of Taxation and Assessment to remove the USA sewer service charge of $72.00 from your 1979-80 property tax billing. Our records show that your 1979- 80 taxes for 1S1 35AC 1000 (your tax account #) have not yet been paid. If you decide to pay your taxes before you receive a corrected tax state- ment from Assessment and Taxation , please deduct $72.00 from the charges on your original billing and note on the bill that a correction to the USA assessment is being processed.
