Dear Nancy:
After review of your plans on January 22, 1991, this department
and the City of Tigard believe that elimination of the door
located on the north wall of the garden center and adjacent the
east wales of the hardware center, can be eliminated as an exit.
For further clarification, this door is located on the first
floor above the truck entry to the basement. The fire
department recommends that the doors be signed to read from the
outside, "NO FIRE ACCESS ENTRANCE", and that from the inside
the doors be concealed to the point with merchandising racks so
that they do not appear to be exit doors,

This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review and is based on the
19BB editions of the Fire and Life Safety Code (UPC) ,
Mechanical Fire and Life Safety Code (UMC) , Uniform Fire Code
(UFC) , and other local ordinances and regulations.
Plana are conditionally approved as submitted subject to the
following items:
1 . Automatic Sprinkler Protection: With walls being
removed and additional walls being installed, automatic
sprinkler protection should be looked at critically.
Sprinklers shall not be placed closer then 4 inches to
a wall nor more than 7 1/2 feet from a wall .
Additionally, sprinklers shall not be spaced greater
than 15 feet from each other. As this is a small
remodeled area, automatic sprinklers may be modified
without submitting plans, however, field inspector will
verify all placement of sprinkler heads that have been
relocated, added or removed.
2, Approved Plans on Job Site: One set of approved plans
bearing the stamps of the building department issuing
the construction permit and this office must be
maintained on the project site throughout all phases of
construction and must .be made available to building and
fire inspectors for reference during required
construction inspections. UBC Sec. 303
