The initial plan review required the entire corridor ceiling to be covered with a second layer of 5/8" Type "X" gypsum wallboard. After review of the building;, it was agreed that nothing would be gained in fire protection with the second layer of gypsum wallboard, and therefore the requirement has been removed. It was agreed that the following is to bf completed to meet with the intent of the Code: 1) The existing solid core wooden doors will remain, with latching devices and smoke gae,kets provided. 2) The existing aluminum doors shall be replaced with 20 minute rated fire assemblies. 3) All new doors shall be 20 minute rated fire assemblies. 4) Duct openings into corridor will either be provided with fire dampers, ducting to be extended with minimum 26 gauge sheetmetal ducting through walls to rooms, or opoinings to be blocked shut witn gypsum wallboard. 5) New wall construction shall be covered with 5/8" Type "X" gypsum wallboard on each side. 6) Existing wall in area of construction to be covered with a second layer of 1/2" gypsum wallboard.
