FIELD INSPECTION REPORT
DATES COVERED: August 21, 1992
PROJECT: River View II
ADDRESS: Durham Rd.
INSPECTOR: M.F. Schrieber, P.E.
08-21-92: Arrived at contractor's request. Excavator is in the
process of removing unsuitable black and very soft gray organic
clay that contains significant organics . Bottom of the excavation
consists of a subgrade soil that is firm greenish gray silty clay
containing trace of sand.
Recommend that we are called out to see the bottom of the
excavation before backfilling. Contractor wishes to use brawn sandy
silt material for engineered backfill. . Recommend that a 2 foot
thick layer of nomi ally compacted crushed rock ( 1-1/2 inch minus)
be placed on the subgrade to provide a. firm base to compact the
engineered backfill aga.ir►st. Engineered backfill should be placed,
compacted and tested in lifts to a dry density of at least 98% T-
99 , or as approached by Geotechnical Engineer.
