Generally these are referred to as "Class B" fire door assemblies. The doors may be held in a normally t open position by means of a fusible link or similar device which cause them to close automatically in the event of heat or fire in the proximity of the door opening. w. Prior to cutting the opening and making the door installation, a building permit must be obtained from the City of Tigard Building Department.. And, application for the permit should be accompanied by plans showing the method of installation so that accurate calculations of the loads and stresses which will be placed upon the wall may be made by the plans examiner. If wood framing is employed in the construction of the ' demising wall , it must be firestopped at maximum vertical and horizontal intervals of 10 feet and at ceiling lines with 2-inch thick (nominal ) lumber, gypsum plasterboard or equivalent material . Penetrations made in this prescribed firestopping to accommodate wiring, plumbing, duct work, etc. must be packed, following the installation of said utility runs, in a manner which will effectively maintain the integrity of the firestopping and cut off all concealed draft openings which could afford a passage for flame. 1 (ref: Sec. 2517 U.B.C. ) 2.
