In any case, we have now had an opportunity to do a review and as a result we are listing as follows those certain requirements which must be observed during the course of development in order to fulfill fire safety regulations. 1 . The suspended acoustical tile ceiling which will be installed in this space must have a certified flame spread rating of not to exceed 200 as measured on the Steiner Tunnel Test Scale which is referred to other- wise as U.B.C. Standard No. 42-1 . (ref: Sec. 4204 U.B.C. ) 2. If wood framing is employed in the construction of the new walls and partitions as shown on the drawings, fire- stopping is required at all ceiling lines and in the case of double stud walls and partitions at maximum horizontal intervals of not to exceed 10 feet. This firestopping may take the form of 2-inch thick (nominal ) lumber, gypsum plasterboard or some equivalent material . Penetrations made in this prescribed firestopping to accommodate wiring, plumbing, duct work or other utility runs must be plugged and protected in such a manner as to cut off all concealed spaces which could afford a passage for flame. All doors shown on the drawings must be openable from the "inside" without the use of a key, special knowledge or effort, except that the exterior exit doors may be fitted with keyed deadlocks if they are of the "indicating" type (i .e. being readily distinguishable as being locked when in the locked position) , and in conjuction therewith the doors are posted with a sign reading "THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED DURING BUSINESS HOURS in letters not less than 1 inch in height on a contrasting background. kref: Sec. 3303 U.B.C. ) 4. Inspection and approval of construction by this office is required: a) prior to cover of the new framing following the installation of the utility runs and firestopping referred to in Requirement No. 2. b) upon completion of construction and prior to occu- pancy of the space by Tektronix Incorporated. (ref: Sec. 305 U.B.C. ) 5. One set of approved plans bearing the stamps of the Tigard Building Department and this office must be maintained at the project site throughout all construction and must be made available to building and fire inspectors for reference during required construction inspections . Prior to occupancy of this tenant space by Tektronix Incor- porated, a Certificate olf Occupancy or other written authorization must be obtained from the Tigard Building Department.
