Dear Sirs:
The plans have been reviewed for the above noted project and found to be
conditionally approved subject to the following requirements:
1. Exit Door Hardware: All doors shown on the drawings must be openable
from the inside for immediate exit at all times without the ii- of a key,
special knowledge, or effort. (UBC Sec. 3304)
2. Firestopping: In all wood framed walls and partitions, fire ping
consisting of 2-inch nominally-sized lumber or other approved materials
must be installed at all floor and ceiling levels. Penetrations in this
prescribed firestopping to accommodate wiring, plumbing, and other
similar utility runs must be parked with noncumbustible materials in an
approved manner so as to prevent the passage of flame. (UBC Sec. 2516)
It was not indicated on the plans submitted, however, that wood or metal
studs were to be used. The above noted comment is for the use of wood
construction.
3. The door into the rated 1-hour corridor must be installed in accordance
with the following. It shall be protected by a tight fitting smoke and
draft control assembly, having a fire protection rating of not less than
20 minutes in conformance with Uniform Building Code Standard 43-2. The
door and frame shall bear an approved label or other identification
showing the rating thereof, the name of the manufacturer, and the testing
material. Doors shall be maintained self closing or shall be
automatically closing, and shall be protected by a gasket so installed as
to provide a seal where the door meets the stop on both sides and across
the top.

4. Approved Plans on Jou Site: One set of approved plans bearing the stamps
of the Washingtor. County Building Department and this office must be
maintained on the project site throughout all phases of construction and
must be made available to building and fire inspectors for reference
during required construction inspections. (UBC Sec. 303)
Regilred Orcupancy Certificate: Prior to the use and occupancy of the
project space , a certificate of occupancy or other written instrument
of approval must be obtained from the Washington County Building
Department. (UBC Sec. 307)
