Dear Bob:
Ms. Doris Torland, 11425 S.W. Greenburg Road, recently requested the
Board of Directors of the Agency to consider a variance in her fee
for making connection to the sewer system. Basically the request
was that the Board allow her to connect to the sewer for a permit fee
of $300 as opposed to the current fee of $825. The basis of the
request was twofold; one, a claim of financial hardship and two, a
claim that she never received notice to connect to the sewer. Sewer
has been available to the property since 1969 and was constructed by
the City of Tigard.
The Board of Directors denied Ms. Torland's claim for the reduced
rate but did request the City of Tigard, who will be issuing the
permit, to seriously consider establishing an installment payment
plan for her that will allow the payment of the connection fee over
a period of time to meet her financial situation. The Board also
directed that if the City can see their way clear to doing this that
some level of interest be included. We will appreciate anything you
can do to help Ms. Torland.
I am forwarding a copy of this letter to Ms. Torland and through
this media asking that she contact the City in an effort to work out
an acceptable arrangement
