Dear Ms. Noel,
This letter is v 'n in response to your inquiry regarding a re-roofing job at the above
referenced adoiess.
According to code, it is not required to obtain a building permit REMOVE the existing
wood shake shingles on a residential dwelling. However, the contractor, which you
indicated would be SEARS, is REQUIRED to obtain a building permit from the City o&
Tigard prior `o roof replacement ONLY IF the sheeting will be replaced. In other words,
if the existing sheeting will not be replaced (i.e.: changed from slats to solid), no permit
is required for t�� replacement roof either.
