Dear Ms. Smith:
This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review and is based on
{ the 1991 editions or the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) and those
sections of the Uniform Building Code (UBC) and Uniform
Mechanical Code (UMC) specifically referencing the fire
department, and other local ordinances and regulations.
Plans are conditionally approved subject to Tigard Building
Department requirements and the following items:
1 . The tenant space number must be prominently displayed
+ on the street front where .it is readily visible to
drivers and officers of respchding fire apparatus and
other emergency vehicles,. UFC Sec, 10.208
2 . Not _less than one (1) approved fire extinguisher(s)
with a rating of not less than (*) shall be provided
for each (**) square foot of floor area or fraction
thereof. The travel distance to an extinguisher from
any portion of the building, shall not exceed 75 feet .

firestopping consisting of 2-inch nominally-sized lumber or other

levels. Penetrations in this prescribed firestopping to
accommodate wiring, plumbing, and other similar utility runs must
i be packed with noncombustible materials in an approved manner so

2. Approved Plans on Job Site: One set of approved plans bearing the
stamps of the building department issuing the construction permit
and this office must be maintained on the project site throughout
all phases of construction and must be made available to building
and fire inspectors for reference during required construction
inspections. UBC Sec. 303
3. Inspections Required: Inspection and approval of construction by
a representative of this office is required: (a) prior to the
cover of any new framing elements following the installation of
all utility runs which will be concealed within wall and partition
cavities; (b) upon completion of construction and prior to
occupancy of the tenant space. UBC Sec, 305

4. Required Occupancy Certificate: Prior to the use and occupancy of
the project (space) , a certificate of occupancy or other written
instrument- of approval. must be obtained from the building
department issuing the construction permit. UBC Sec. 307

5. Review Part of Approved Plans: This review shall become a part of `
the approved plans and attached thereto.
