As you know we were discussing during this same general period the requirement of insulation in duplexes, and concluded that insulation was not required between the units, because the State considered these walls heated walls not requiring insulation. In conversations with Ann Kiem, City of Portland, the information submitted by Mr. Magare as to their policy is true, they do not require R-21 insulation in these party walls, however, they do -equire R-I i in both walls to achieve the Required STC rating.
