RE: Canterbury project for Polygon Northwest Company
Dear Val,
As requested by your e-mail sent to Kathleen of Polygon and follow up conversation we have made
the requested revisions. The attached drawings reflect these changes.
The carriage style building has been mirrored over to match the site plan. This includes all plans and
the elevations. The detail bugs 5/D3 and 1/F3 have been changed on the plan sheets. We have added
an additional detail, 3/D2, to replace the mislabeled call-out 5/D3. The mislabeled detail call-out
4/D5 has been revised.
The sheet reference has been revised; a number of corrections were made. We have added sheet R10
which was missing from the set.
I checked the square footages and they are correct as shown on the cover sheet. As we discussed, we
calculate the square footages to the inside face of the walls.
All items associated with the permits, if needed, will be handled by Polygon.

The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code(OSSC)
1998 edition; and the Tualatin Valley Fire&Rescue Ordinance 99-01 (TVFR99-01) 1999
edition.The following information is required in order to complete the review.
1. Provide actual building layout to match foundation plan for all buildings where units
are reversed on the foundation plan. Example like units EI,Fl, Gl, and H where they
are flipped to be placed in the lay out of the building.
2. Provide information showing shear wall and framing design diagrams match both
submitted engineers calculations and diagrams in submitted plans.Example Unit E
middle level framing plan in the structural calc shows'HD8A crossed out and PHD8
put in its place also other areas with hand written items on these drawings, as
submitted in this office and received on Dec. 29, 2005. (The structural calc. diagrams
don't match the submitted plan in all areas.
3. Provide 2 complete sets of structural calc when above completed.
4. Provide copy of TVF&R Building Survey Report. Attached
5. Provide exterior elevations and erosion control plan with details.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard,Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of
Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.

We have reviewed the comments contained in the review letter dated 20 July 2005 pertaining to
the Canterbury project that is planned for construction in Tigard, OR. We have prepared the
following itemized response to those comments that pertain to the structural issues. Responses
to the non-structural items are by the architect. Please refer to the original comments as we have
provided only our responses.
2 A review has been completed of the framing drawings and back-checked with the structural
calculations. Note that some of the items originally specified are no longer produced and as
such the drawings have been revised. On such item is the PHD8 which is no longer made.
All PHD8 references on the plans have been revised to HDQ8 holdowns. Note also that the
HDQ8 has a higher load capacity and was able to replace HD8A and many HD10A holdowns
on the plans. PHD2 holdowns have replaced HD2A holdowns as we believe that they are
more easily installed correctly. The manufactured joist(the TJI/Pro series is no longer
produced)callouts also have been revised to reflect items that are currently available.
3. Two sets of calculations are included for your use. See also response item 2
