We understand the new RTU weighs less than 800 lbs. The RTU is supported by two (2) existing roof purlins over an existing glue-laminated roof beam. The proposed new unit will replace one (1) existing unit, labeled RTU #3, using the existing curb with a curb adaptor. Please notify WDY if the new unit weight and/or location are different from above, or if the existing curb will not be used. WDY conducted a site visit on August 23, 2016. During our site visit we determined that the roof framing consists of T&G wood decking of assumed 2" nominal thickness over 5-14" x 13" glue- laminated wood purlins, spaced at approximately 8' o.c., spanning approximately 25' between 8-3/4"x 34-1/2" glue-laminated wood beams. WDY applied a roof dead load of 10 psf and a roof live load of 25 psf for the purlin evaluation. Based on the above information, it is our opinion that the existing roof structure has adequate design capacity to support the new replacement RTU at the existing RTU #3 location using the existing curb. The RTU installer is responsible to determine methods of•moving the RTU into position and to distribute the load by dollies, sleepers, or planking to avoid localletnetiviinefAlnyof decking.
