Dear Jeff:
The blocking between the rafters is minimally structural and for the purpose to
keeping the rafters from twisting as they dry and weather. The angle braces
were overkill for the purposes. if the blocking has a minimum of 2 16d nails per
end attachment it will do its needed function.
