Plans (32) GEODESIGN= FIELD REPORT Page 1 of 3 GDI Project: Polygon-123-03 Prepared By: Dan Boileau Project Name: River Terrace Northwest Date: July 27`h, 2016 Location: Scholls Ferry Road and Roy Rogers Report#: 99 Arrival: 1045 Departure: 1245 Weather: Sunny- 80s Permit#: TBA Site Visit Requested By: Tim (Polygon), Mike Waddell Met With (on site): Tim, Mike (Polygon) Purpose: Observe Lots 38-52 subgrade and wall north of lots 1-9 subgrade Outstanding Issues: FR 16& 17 (10/21 & 10/22)Areas of fill with low density and high moisture contents in lots 1-9, 53-72, & 78-82 *PARTIALLY RESOLVED* .:: Resolved FR81 (5/17/16) Low density trench backfill lots 114 to 118 FR 82-83 (5/18-19/16) Low asphalt compaction for areas of SW 174th, SW 172nd and around 3 Manholes FR-99 (7/27) Lots 49, 42, 43,44 and 46 subgrade - see report Lots 38-52-Subgrade Upon arrival, I was asked by Mike to observe subgrade for lots indicated on attached site plan. Some lots had been formed, lots 38 and 52 had been poured and some lofts remained open (no forms etc.). Subgrade appeared to consist of light brown silt. I used a Y2"diameter steel foundation probe to evaluate subgrade through forms, next to poured footings and in open lots. Resistance to penetration indicated generally stiff to very-stiff subgrade conditions. We recommend removal of loose material residing within footing areas prior to footing pour(clumps etc.). A summary of observed subgrade issues includes: • Lot 49- Northeast corner probes soft up to 6".We recommend removal of soft subgrade to firm subgrade and backfill with structural fill or backfill with concrete during footing pour • Lot-42 North sides of pad footings reside at the top of a grade change in subgrade (see photos). Pad footing placement near unconfined vertical cut does not provide adequate support for footing influence zone. We recommend placement of a wedge of structural fill so that the influence zone(generally considered 1 H:1 V out from base of footing) is supported by structural fill. Further clarification can be provided by Shawn Dimke of Geo Design upon request. • Lots-43, 44, 46 and 47. Conduit observed running under footing then turning upward through footing. Loose spoils remain within footing zone due to pipe placement. We recommend removal of loose spoils beneath footing prior to footing pour. Resulting holes can be backfilled with structural fill or concrete during footing pour. Lock and Load Wall North of Lots 1-9 Upon arrival, I observed crews had partially covered wall subgrade with approx. 12"of loose rock. I used a%" foundation probe to evaluate subgrade (where possible)through rock. Resistance to penetration indicates medium- stiff to stiff subgrade conditions. Crews indicated the face wall had been placed upon 12"of compacted (via observed small dual smooth drum vibratory roller) crushed rock. Crews indicated Synteen SF 90 geotextile grid will be used during wall construction. I observed crews had placed perforated drain pipe at the base of exposed subgrade excavation face with Geotextile Fabric placed between subgrade and planned crushed rock backfill locations. 15575 SW Sequoia Parkway,Suite 100 I Portland,OR 97224 I Off 503.968.8787 I Fax 503.968.3068 i,-,r , G -123- 63 14- 17161 -4/tT /iG . . . . _ TR.7 Ali .: .
