Dear City of Tigard,
This letter follows ECEC original letter dated 6-13-16 regarding sheathing replacement for this project.
Please refer to ECEC details S1.1 —S1.5 attached to this letter. These details show specific information
regarding sheathing replacement at typical conditions where we propose portions of the existing gypsum
wallboard remain due to insufficient access and/or other constructability/budget issues.
In some cases,the resulting wall sheathing is unblocked, as allowed for in the NDS section 4.3.3.2.,
wherein the nominal shear value is reduced to 60%of the blocked value per the adjustment factor in the
table shown here:

The resulting shear strength of the wall in these areas continues to represent an improvement over
existing conditions. Transfer of wall shear from these repaired sheathing areas into adjacent elements
involves stud shear, addressed in the attached calculations.
