SUBJECT: Shear Wall Revision
Discussion:
The 5/0 x 5/0 window located in Bedroom 2 of the upper floor plan was changed
to two 3/0 x 5/0 with a wall separating them.
In the Master; a new 3/0 x 5/0 window was added and the existing (3) 3/0 x 5/0
windows in the rear have been changed to (2) 3/0 x 5/0 and were shifted to the
corner.
Recommendation:
The lateral calculations for the shear walls surrounding the Bedroom 2 window
revision were revised to account for the increased window opening. The nailing
and holdown sizes remained an S/1. Please refer to wall line V1 on the attached
1.1 sheet for revised holdown locations.
The new 3/0 x 5/0 window in the master did not affect the lateral calculations.
The lateral calculations have been revised to account for the shift in window
openings in the Master, the nailing and holdown sizes have remained an S/2.
Please refer to the wall line V6 on the attached L1 sheet for revised holdown
locations. Revised calculations have also been included in this letter.
