RESOLUTION NO. 16-U—)
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AN APPLICATION FOR AN OREGON STATE PARKS AND
RECREATION LOCAL GOVERNMENT GRANT (2016) TO FUND CONSTRUCTION OF AN
INTERPRETIVE SHELTER/RESTROOM AT DIRKSEN NATURE PARK
WHEREAS, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the Local
Government Grant Program;and
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard desires to participate in this grant program to the greatest extent possible as
a means to provide needed park and recreation improvements and enhancements; and
WHEREAS, the Tigard City Council has identified improvements at Dirksen Nature Park as a high priority
need; and
WHEREAS, the interpretive shelter/restroom provides needed picnicking,way-finding, education,watering
and restroom facilities for both Dirksen Nature Park and the Fanno Creek Regional Trail; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard may use property acquisition funds as its local match should grant funds be
awarded: and
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard will provide adequate funding for on-going operations and maintenance of
this park and recreation facility should the grant funds be awarded.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: The City Council demonstrates its support for the submittal of a grant application to the
Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for construction of an interpretive
shelter/restroom at Dirksen Nature Park.
SECTION 2: This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
