= Youth Advisory Council - Minutes
MEETING DATE/TIME: Thursday, Feburary 17 at 5:30 p.m.
MEETING LOCATION: Tigard Permit Center—Conference Room #1

1. CALL TO ORDER
Note: Quorum was not reached, and therefore no suggestions were voted on.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Zack Dean,Marie Piatski,Mike Coloma, Skylar Gambill,and Adam LaFountain
Excused: Nicole Bintliff,Adam Stack, Zahra Hashmat,Tyler Nickla, and Sarah Oh
Staff: Councilor Henderson, Kent Wyatt
3. MINUTES
Unable to approve minutes from February 4th meeting due to lack of quorum.
4. OLD BUSINESS
Reflected on the successful Adopt-A-Highway Main Street Cleanup on February 15th.
Nominated Lauren Brown for the January Youth Spotlight for her role in running the Senior
Citizen Prom at Tigard High School. (Unable to vote due to lack of quorum).
5. NEW BUSINESS
Heard Lisa Elliot from the Tigard Public Library spoke about working with the Tigard Teen
Library Council, as well as possible future events (including the Summer Reading program as well
as Test Prep and College Essay workshops).
Discussed a meme contest to publicize new Tigard laws banning smoking on city property as well
as public parks and trails. It would be a social media contest beginning on March 1 st (with the
new laws beginning to be enforced on July 1 st).
Suggested bringing in Ms. Marshall to speak on behalf of My New Red Shoes.
Considered requesting a speaker from the Tigard Downtown Alliance, or sending a representative
from TYAC to the next Downtown Alliance meeting.
Considered a general revision of TYAC bylaws, such as streamlining the interview and admission
process for new members.
Discussed possible fundraising events and goals (My New Red Shoes, Free Little Library, etc).
6. ADJOURN
This meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
Next Meeting: Wednesday,March 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in Town Hall.
