Tigard Brownfields
Initiative Update
City started a Brownfields initiative to:
•Better understand the issues
•Outreach to property owners, residents,
other stakeholders
•Act as a problem-solver in readying private
and public properties for redevelopment.
•Obtain substantial funds to address the
problem: EPA, state grants
U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant
•Notified of $400,000 award May, 2014
3 Year Work Plan
•Citywide inventory and mapping of potential sites
•Public outreach
•Approximately 14 Phase I’s and 8 Phase II
assessments
•Clean-up and re-use planning
Outreach activities:
•Formed
Community
Engagement Team
(CET) to develop
ranking criteria for
inventory
Outreach activities:
•Economic Development lunch meeting with
bankers, builders and brokers
•Two open houses in October; one for general
audience and one for property owners
Public Community Meeting

The City of Tigard invites you to a community meeting to learn
more about the city’s Brownfields Initiative. We’ll discuss how
brownfields redevelopment benefits the community, examples of
successful brownfield remediation and why community support
is essential to the initiative. Please join us!

Wednesday, October 28 | 6–8 p.m.
City of Tigard Public Works Auditorium

This meeting will address the “nuts and bolts” of the
Brownfields Initiative—how to determine whether a property is
eligible and how to begin the process.
