Subject: Waterline and Meter Sizing I have reviewed the mechanical engineers calculations for verifying the water meter and pipe sizes for Building "A"of Red Rock Business Center. Their calculations justify the sizes installed. I called TVWD and asked what the static pressure was of the fire hydrant located in front of the building. They said that the static pressure was measured at 95 psi in 2007. The static pressure the ME used in their calculations was 60 psi. Another minor change is that the ME used 250 feet of pipe length. The actual length is 325 feet plus 60 feet for equivalent fittings for a total of 385 feet. The friction loss for this difference is negligible. The actual allowable fixture units from Table 6-6"Fixture Unit Table for Determining Water Pipe and Meter Sizes" is 244. (See attached Table 6-6). This is 3 times the fixture units used by the ME in his calculations. Note: This memo only addresses the meter and building supply line from the tap on the main in the ROW to the face of the building. It also assumes 72 fixture units.
