Dear Bob,
As you requested, a representative of Hayden Consulting Engineers looked into the
reuse of the existing header at the above address in the repair previously designed by
our company.
We find that it is structurally acceptable to reuse the 4 x 16 (actual dimensions 3.5" x
15.25") solid sawn header in place of the previously design 3 1/2 x 12 glulam. This is under
the assumption that the existing header was not damaged along with the other areas
being repaired.
