The Project Structural General Notes indicate that the project shall be in accordance with the 2010 Oregon Structural Specialty code (2009 IBC) with the following criteria; wind speed 95mph, exposure category C, with an importance factor of 1.15. With this defined criterion the calculated component and cladding design loads are 26psf in the field zone and 32psf in the corner zones (3.4'). 2. The vertical Formawall Dimension series panels, 16" flat panels or thel2" wide profile DS60 panels are both constructed with 22 gage face and liner panels. These panels will be fastened to 3/" deep hat shaped subgirts spaced at 32" maximum. At this spacing the panels can accommodate a minimum load of 90psf which is adequate for the project loading. 3. The 0.04" thick aluminum IW-10A soffit and fascia panel shall be installed to 16 gage framing that is provided by others, at 16" on center. All the panels will require the negative load clip, installed between every support, to reinforce the panels capacity. Where the panel is used as a soffit panel it is perforated with 10% free area for ventilation. 4. Do not install metal panels directly over any sheathing or concrete. This can cause adverse moisture problems. Shim the panels out from the material 1/" minimum. This will allow some airflow behind the panels and reduce concerns with entrapped moisture. 5. Scope of work includes only materials shown on CENTRIA Shop Drawings. 6. The test was performed and witnessed by representative from Farabaugh Engineering and Testing, Inc., an independent test laboratory. A description and summary of those tests are contained here-in. Purpose The purpose of the testing was to determine the structural capacity of the panels under uniform negative load. Manufacturer CENTRIA 1005 Beaver Grade Rd. Moon Township, PA 15108 Test Specimen The test panels were 12" module width,x 0.040 aluminum. The panels were fabricated at CENTRIA'S Frankfort, Kentucky manufacturing plant. The specimens were of standard panel configuration as per CENTRIA'S drawings. Test Dates: 10/27/11 and 10/29/11 Test Assembly t; JJ The negative load tests were performed on an assembly 4 panels wide, using spans at 2 a 2'-0" and 3 @ 1-4". The panels were fastened using a '/. - 14 hex head carbon steel plated fasteners at each support. Negative load clips were attached at midpoints between each span using 3/16"dia. open end pop rivets. The supports were structural channels of sufficient thickness such that fastener pullout was not considered to be evaluated by these tests. See drawings for specimen setup and for supporting of leading and finishing panel Test Procedure The tests were performed with the panels supported in the test chamber in a manner to simulate field installation conditions. A vacuum chamber conforming to ASTM E72-02 was used to provide the uniform pressure loads. A controlled blower provided the necessary vacuum, and pressure levels were indicated by a manometer calibrated to read in pounds per square foot. The test assembly was preloaded to 5 psf and the load was then released, allowing the test assembly to rest prior to additional loading. The assembly was then loaded from 0 psf to maximum loading in increments of 5 or 10 psf while following the procedure of loading and releasing of load.
