SHE j EXPIRES: 8/30/_,^ RE: 8615 Pinebrook Street - Special inspection MST2014-00146 Tigard, OR NOTE: This memo is to inform you of our observations and recommendations for changes to our original engineering. We performed a site visit on Wednesday. November 12. 2014 to inspect the installation of the epoxy anchors. We also reviewed the framing for compliance with our design and intent. When we arrived the holes for the anchors had already been drilled. We watched as they brushed and blew out the debris. We then verified the hole sizes and the materials being used. We specified Simpson SET XP adhesive epoxy. Next we watched as the epoxy was mixed to the proper color and injected into the holes. The installation was per the manufacturers specification and satisfactory with us. We noted for the framing connection at the double top plate the rafters were lapping with the ceiling joists and the HI connectors could not be used. We recommend using a standard H2.5 hurricane ties each rafter. The mudsill plate of the of the existing wall had 1/2" anchor bolts installed but did not have the 3"x3" washer plates. It is acceptable to cut out the sole plate to install the washer plates since the exterior sheathing is attached to the mudsill directly. This should occur a minimum of five (5) places along the side walls and three(3) places along the rear wall. if you have any questions feel free to give me a call. CC: Mr. Jeff Luedloff. SHEP RE: 8615 Pinebrook Street MST2014-00146 EXPIRES: 8/30/ t Tigard, OR NOTE: This memo is to inform you of our recommendations for changes to our original engineering. It is our understanding the contractor would like to substitute bolted holdowns in lieu of the STHD14 straps called at the front wall of the house. Our shear wall schedule indicates the capacity of the STHD14 is 3,640 lbs. We recommend the HTT5 holdown has a capacity of 4,350 lbs with a 5/8" diameter anchor bolt. This may be a threaded rod with a double nut and • washer if it is embedded 4" below the top of the footing. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call.
