This analysis has been performed in accordance with the Crown Castle Structural `Statement of Work' and the terms of Crown Castle Purchase Order Number 552332, in accordance with application 178855, revision 8. The purpose of the analysis is to determine acceptability of the tower stress level. Based on our analysis we have determined the tower stress level for the structure and foundation, under the following load case, to be: LC5: Existing + Proposed Equipment Sufficient Capacity Note: See Table I and Table II for the proposed and existing loading,respectively. The analysis has been performed in accordance with the TIA-222-G standard and the 2010 Oregon Structural Specialty Code based upon a wind speed of 95 mph 3-second gust, exposure category B with topographic category 1, and crest height of 0 feet. June 12, 2013 100 Foot Stealth Monopole Tower Structural Analysis CCI BU No. 825028 Project Number 2013775.825028.01;Application 178855, Revision 8 Page 3 1) INTRODUCTION The existing 100' stealth monopole tower consists of six major sections, with the top four sections being connected with bolted flange joints at 68', 76', 84', and 92', and the remaining bottom two sections being connected with a slip joint. The top four stealth sections consists of two P4 XX pipe masts, one 4-1/2" solid round mast, and one 6" solid round mast, all of which are located within a group of concealment shrouds. The bottom two sections have an 18-sided cross section and are evenly tapered from 35" (flat-flat) at the base to 25.5" (flat-flat) at an elevation of 68'. The structure is galvanized and has no tower lighting. The stealth concealment shrouds were designed to shield the appurtenances from sight. The tower was originally designed for T-Mobile by Engineered Endeavors, Inc. of Mentor, OH in December of 2004. The tower was also originally designed for an 80 mph fastest mile wind speed with 1/2' radial ice (w/ 25% wind load reduction) and a 100 mph 3-second gust wind speed in accordance with the TIA/EIA-222-F standard and the 2000 International Building Code (IBC). 2) ANALYSIS CRITERIA The structural analysis was performed for this tower in accordance with the requirements of TIA-222-G Structural Standards for Steel Antenna Towers and Antenna Supporting Structures using a 3-second gust wind speed of 95 mph with no ice, 30 mph with a 1" ice thickness, and 60 mph under service loads, exposure category B with topographic category 1, and crest height of 0 feet. Seismic loads were considered using a substantiated analysis utilizing the TIA-222-G standard. Based on section 2.7.3 of the TIA-222-G standard the seismic effects may be ignored due to the earthquake spectral response acceleration at short periods (Ss) for this site being less than or equal to 1.00. The wind effects control the tower loading. Selected output from the analysis is included in Appendix A. 3.2) Assumptions 1) The tower and structures were built and have been maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. 2) The configuration of antennas, transmission cables, mounts, and other appurtenances are as specified in Tables 1 and 2 and the referenced drawings. 3) When applicable, transmission cables are considered as structural components for calculating wind loads as allowed by TIA-222-G. 4) Mount sizes, weights, and manufacturers are best estimates based on site photos provided and were determined without the benefit of a site visit by GPD. 5) All member connections and foundation steel reinforcing are assumed designed to meet or exceed the load carrying capacity of the connected member and surrounding soils respectively, unless otherwise specified in this report. 6) At the time of the analysis, information on the stiffeners and their applicable welds for each flange plate in the stealth concealment section was unavailable and was therefore assumed based on experience with previous similar projects. 7) All equipment model numbers, quantities, and centerline elevations are as provided in the CCI CAD package dated 06/03/2013 with any adjustments as noted below. a) Per the base level CAD drawing there is one extra 7/8" coax to an elevation of 59' inside the monopole shaft. This coax has been considered as abandoned and has been included in the analysis. This analysis may be affected if any assumptions are not valid or have been made in error. If the existing conditions are not as represented on the tower elevation contained in this report, we should be contacted immediately to evaluate the significance of the discrepancy. This is not a condition assessment of the tower or foundation. This report does not replace a full tower inspection. The tower and foundations are assumed to have been properly fabricated,erected, maintained, in good condition, twist free, and plumb. The engineering services rendered by GPD GROUP in connection with this Structural Analysis are limited to a computer analysis of the tower structure and theoretical capacity of its main structural members. All tower components have been assumed to only resist dead loads when no other loads are applied. No allowance was made for any damaged, bent, missing, loose, or rusted members(above and below ground). No allowance was made for loose bolts or cracked welds. GPD GROUP does not analyze the fabrication of the structure (including welding). It is not possible to have all the very detailed information needed to perform a thorough analysis of every structural sub-component and connection of an existing tower. GPD GROUP provides a limited scope of service in that we cannot verify the adequacy of every weld, plate connection detail, etc. The purpose of this report is to assess the feasibility of adding appurtenances usually accompanied by transmission lines to the structure. It is the owner's responsibility to determine the amount of ice accumulation in excess of the code specified amount, if any, that should be considered in the structural analysis. The attached sketches are a schematic representation of the analyzed tower. If any material is fabricated from these sketches, the contractor shall be responsible for field verifying the existing conditions, proper fit, and clearance in the field. Any mentions of structural modifications are reasonable estimates and should not be used as a precise construction document. Precise modification drawings are obtainable from GPD GROUP, but are beyond the scope of this report. Miscellaneous items such as antenna mounts, etc., have not been designed or detailed as a part of our work. We recommend that material of adequate size and strength be purchased from a reputable tower manufacturer. GPD GROUP makes no warranties, expressed and/or implied, in connection with this report, and disclaims any liability arising from material, fabrication, and erection of this tower. GPD GROUP will not be responsible whatsoever for, or on account of, consequential or incidental damages sustained by any person, firm, or organization as a result of any data or conclusions contained in this report.
