1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.

government transparency is aided by showing all
sources of information offered in one place. Tigard
Maps helps the city work more efficiently and reduces redundancy in staffing and programs so
it provides the city with a good return on investment.
Preston asked committee members if the mapping services offered by the city meet their
needs. Is anything missing or in need of refining?
Cathy asked how the information about this program and its updates are communicated to the

public. Preston said GIS staff had been offering demonstrations through library events and
annual trainings but can always use resident's help in spreading the word about the program's
usefulness.
Many new applications rely on citizens as sensors for data collection. This helps the city focus
resources where they're most needed and it's a good way to partner with the community.
Preston said there's a rich amount of content on the TigardMaps application and it's easy to
link to from the blogs to the city website. Content comes from city, county, state and federal
agencies serving municipal government. There are pre-made map galleries suitable for printing
as well as old Tigard aerial photos dating back to the 1940s. Access Tigard Maps at

6. UPDATE -2014 NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK OPEN HOUSE
Because the city was fully engaged in multiple communication projects during this time, a formal
open house was not held. As part of the follow-up from our biennial survey, the city hired a
consultant specializing in outreach to initiate individual focus groups dedicated to gaining
feedback on major topics in the city - communication, high capacity transit, etc.
Additionally, a group of PSU Graduate Students were busy engaging residents in a project called
Tigard Walks: a new effort launched by StepUP Studio to identify specific barriers and challenges
that Tigard residents face when walking to work, school, social gatherings, and other
neighborhood destinations.
StepUP Studio* will host an interactive Community Conversation on April 1, at 6:30p.m. at
Fowler Middle School (10865 SW Walnut Street), open to all residents of Tigard. Participants
will help to identify common barriers to pedestrian safety and comfort in their neighborhoods,
