Based on the task force discussions at the first two meetings, members may be interested in
developing recommendations in three areas.
7:2o Roundtable #1
Based on the information presented in the city manager's budget transmittal and the financial
forecast, the city will not have the financial resources to continue providing services at the current
level, or fund deferred or emerging service needs. In Mayor Dirksen's state of the city address he
referred to this gap between resources and requirements as the"cliff." Over the last several years,
Tigard has addressed the"cliff"by reducing service levels. Should that approach continue?Is
there a willingness in the community to pay more just to maintain existing service levels?
7:4o Roundtable #2
It is not a requirement that municipal or public services provided to citizens in a community be
provided by cities. Partnerships with other public agencies or the private sector may be an efficient
and cost-effective way to provide services. What specific actions could be taken to explore
partnership opportunities?
8:0o Roundtable #3
The City of Tigard is not a single purpose government like TVF&R,THPRD or TTSD with a clear
focus and mission. Constituent support is generally tied to a vision that is clearly communicated
(parks bond). What actions could be taken to identify and communicate Tigard's identity
and vision?

The Task Force Charge Statement asks:If Tigard were to acquire a new public dollar, what
would it fund?For your recommendation to City Council, and considering the information
presented and actions discussed this evening, what should Tigard's next public dollar fund?
