Plans (2) Brandon Shaw from: ' Mark Butler [mark.bci @verizon.net] Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 5:24 PM To: Brandon Shaw Cc: marcia salmieri Subject: Barrows Road Estates - Combustion Air Vent Attachments: 2nd Floor Framing.pdf; Firewall.pdf; Partial Found.pdf; Ground Floor.pdf Brandon: I have looked at the 3 additional plan review issues on the Barrows Road Estates project (permit numbers MST2007 -00225 to MST2007- 00232). The issues are addressed below with 8 -1/2 x 11 sketches attached.of the changes. 1. Combustion Air in Mechanical R gym: The 70,000 BTU furnace plus the 40,000 BTU water heater will require 27.5 sq in of vent area. Ar through -wall vent will provide 28.3 sq in. The vent callout on sheets A -4, A -5 and A -6 needs to be changed to a 6" duct as shown on the attached ground floor plan sketch. 2. Fire -rated listing @ separation wall: The detail 14/S6 has been modified to call out UL -U359 which is a standard 1 -hour exterior wall detail. The ground floor shear wall has been shortened to not extend into the 5' length of wall at the offset to preserve the rated wall assembly. See the attached firewall detail and the 2nd floor framing plan. Sheet S -4 will need to be revised. The ground floor shear wall "2" is now 31' -4" long with a uniform shear load of 340.2 plf, less than the allowable 350 plf for shear wall type "B ". 3. Slab insulation beneath entry slab: The slab insulation has been extended 24" beneath the stairs as shown on the attached partial foundation plan. This will need to be revised on Sheets S -3, S -4 & S -5. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions. Let me know if you need more formal documentation regarding these changes.
