While a very significant effort has been made to insure the technical accuracy of this program, it is assumed that the user is knowledgeable in the art of system sound estimation and is aware of the tolerances involved in real world acoustical estimation. This program makes certain assumptions as to the dominant sound sources and sound paths which may not always be appropriate to the real system being estimated. Because of this, no assurances can be offered that this software will always generate an accurate sound prediction from user supplied input data. If in doubt about the estimation of expected sound levels in a space, an Acoustical Engineer or a person with sound prediction expertise should be consulted. TFQ 004 -012 GENERAL DATA Type TelAire SuperDuct. 4 -wire Photoelectric Sensing detector and cortrol module The Carrier factory installed smoke detector systemconprises a four -wire controller and one or two sensors (Return Air and or Supply Air). Its pitman functionis to shut down the too ftopunit in order to prevent smoke from circulating throughout the building. It is not to be used as a life saving device. Factory installed smoke detectors require no additional sampling tubes to be field installed. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Controller - The controlerinchrdes a controller a printed circuitboard, and an easily removable clear plastic cover for access to the multiple terminal corrections andrelay contacts for connectionto fire alarm systems, HVAC controls, and other auuliaryfunumns. A remote testreset• visual alum station can be connectedto the controller. Detectors - The detector inc udes a plastic housing, a painted circuit board, a dear plastic cover, an exhaust tube, and a sampling tube. The exhaust tube and sampi ngtube are attached dining factory installation The sampling tube varies in length depending on the size of the roofoptwit. The dear plast ic cover permits visual inspections without having to disassemble the sensor. The cover forms an airtight chamber aroumdthe sensing electronics. For installations using two detectors, the controller does not differentiate which detector signals an alarm or troubk condition. A rapid change inenviron twat conditiorn, such as smoke, causes the sensor to signal an alannstate hi dust and debris acctmiated over time does not. When the sensor's ability to compensate for envuort rental changes has reachedits limit (100% dirty), the sensor signals a trouble condition. Axis introduced to the duct smoke detector's sensing chamber through a sarrzhmgtube that extends into the H\'AC duct and is directed backinto the ventilation systemthrough an exhunt tube_ The difference in air pressure between the two tubes pulls the sampled air throughthe sensing chamber. When a suficientamowi ofsmcke is detectedin the sensing chamber, the sensor signals analarm state andthe controller automatically takes the appropriate action to shut doom the unit via the factoryinstalkd wiring connections. Additional functions such asi tegrationwithaBtaddi ngAlamrSystem, additional fans andblowers, notify the fire alann control panel, etc, require field %siring and configuration. While a very significant effort has been made to insure the technical accuracy of this program, it is assumed . that the user is knowledgeable in the art of system sound estimation and is aware of the tolerances involved in real world acoustical estimation. Its primary function is to shut donnthe roo ftop unit in orderto prevent smoke from circulating throughout the building. It is not to be used as a life saving device. Factory installed smoke detectors require no additional sampling tubes to be field installed. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Controller - The controller includes a controller housing, a printed circuit board and an easily removable clear plastic cover for access to the multiple temrinal c onnectiors andrelay contacts for conneaionto fire alarm systems. HVAC controls, and other auxiliary functions. A remote test reset visual alarm station can be connectedto the controller. Detectors - The detector includes a plastic housing, a printed circuit board, a clear plasac cover, an exhaust tube, and a sampling tube. The exhaust tube and sampling tube are attached during factory installation The sampling tube varies mien th depending onthe size ofthe rooftop urit The clear plastic coverpemdts visual inspections without having to disassemble the sensor. The cover forms an airtight chamber around the sensing electronics. For installations using two detectors, the controller does not differentiate which detector signals an alarm or trouble condition. A rapid change in environmental conditions, such as smoke, causes the sensor to signal an alarm state but dust and debns accumilatedover time does not. When the sensors ability to compensate for enviromiertal changes ha s reachedits limit (1 00° e duty), the sensor signals a trouble condition. Au is intro duc ed t o the duct smoke detector's sensing chamber through a sampling tube that extends into the HVAC duct and is directed b a ck int o the ventilation systnnthrough an exhaust tube. The difference in air pressure between the two tubes pulls the sampled air through the sensing chamber. When a sufficient amount o f smoke is detected in the sensing chamber, the sensor signals an alarm state andthe controller automatically takes the appropriate action to shut down the unit via the factoryinstalledwinngconnections. Additional functions such as inteationwith a Building Alarm System, additional fans andblowers, notify the fire alarmcortrolpanel, etc, require field wiring and configuration.
