Tree Protection Zone. The project arborist shall designate the Tree Protection Zone (TPZ). Where feasible, the TPZ shall be established at the dripline of the protected tree or grove. If the trail must be installed closer to the tree(s), the TPZ may be established within the dripline area if the project arborist determines the tree(s) will not be unduly damaged. The location of the TPZ shall be shown on the construction drawings. 2. Protection Fencing. All trees to be retained shall be protected by chain link or other fencing as approved by the project arborist. Protection fencing shall be secured to steel posts placed no further than 15 feet apart and shall be installed at the edge of the TPZ. 3. Designation of Cut Trees. Trees to be removed shall be clearly marked with construction flagging, tree — marking paint, or other methods approved in advance by the project arborist. Trunk wood of trees planned for removal should be left on the ground os large woody debris to provide important wildlife habitat, but branches and smaller material should be removed to reduce potential for wildfire. 4. Preconstruction Conference. The project arborist shall be onsite to discuss methods of tree removal and tree protection prior to any ° construction. (DURING CONSTRUCTION) 5. Tree Protection Zone Maintenance. Equipment shall not enter the TPZ nor shall any fencing be moved or removed except under the z direction of the project arborist. 6. Storage of Material or Equipment. The contractor shall not store materials or equipment within the TPZ. 7. Excavation within the TPZ. • Excavation within the TPZ shall be avoided if alternatives are available. • If excavation within the TPZ is unavoidable, the project arborist shall evaluate the proposed excavation to determine methods to minimize impacts to trees. • Root barriers to be installed where potential conflict with trail exists at project arborist's discretion. R, I? • All construction within the TPZ shall be under the on —site technical supervision of the project arborist. 8. Tree Protection Inspection. The project arborist shall monitor construction activities and progress, and provide written reports to the City during periods of active construction. Nsp 1 9. Final Report. After the project has been completed, the project arborist shall provide a final report describing the measures needed to maintain and protect the remaining trees. ?S N • ° N t i Si Revision. and Addendum.
