Date: Nov. 21, 2013 Mr. Ken Marquardt c% Ramjack of Southern Oregon, LLC P.O. Box 11701 Eugene, OR 97440 RE: 11140 SW Novare Court Tigard, OR SUMMARY OF SPECIAL INSPECTION FOR RESIDENTIAL PILE INSTALLATION: Dear Mr. Marquardt, f'l 5-1--,2.a3- Dory In accordance with your request, ESR1854,applicable building codes, and requirements by The City of -1'47RQ,p1, I have completed my special inspection services for the installation of Ramjack piles and related hardware at the address given above. My report is as follows: 1.) Verification of the manufacturer of the piles, brackets, and related hardware(Ramjack): Manufacturer's labels were present on all parts. The part numbers on the labels matched those listed on RamJack product specifications sheets. 2-7/8"pile shafts with 10"diameter helical blades were used. In(1) place, a 2-3/8°diameter pile was used, which is an acceptable substitution for that embedment. The installer present was verified as Ramjack certified. 2.) Observation of helical pile installation: I observed the readings of the hydraulic fluid pressure gage as the pile was installed. These readings were converted into torque for the 5000 lb-ft hydraulic motor(drive head) using a factor of 1.696. This torque was then correlated to pile bearing capacity using a torque correlation factor of Kt=9(for 2-7/8°diameter piles)as referenced in ESR1854 section 4.1.1.4. Note that the correlated bearing capacity must be twice the allowable bearing capacity (the design load shown on the plans.) The pressure readings rose little thru the first 30+feet of pile embedment depth. This is consistent with our expectations regarding the ML soil. At greater depths, the readings increased abruptly, indicating the helical blade had engaged the rocky bearing strata. I observed the installers maintaining an installation log, recording depth and pressure for pile installations 3.) I observed the installation of the#4038 commercial pile bracket atop the pile, and its bearing at the foundation. The arrangement and fit of all elements were satisfactory and matched the detail shown on the permit plan set. 4.) The finalized log was submitted for my review upon completion. The final depths shown in the log for the remaining piles varied widely. The piece inventory listed on the drive log is consistent with those observed during the special inspection, and matches those shown on the permit plan set and ESR1854. Based on my special inspection, observations, and the information provided to me,the pile installations appear to have been installed in substantial conformance with the permit plan set and ESR1854. I appreciate the opportunity to provide inspection services for this project. If you have any questions regarding the information given herein, please contact me for clarification.
