Hello Dan,
When I turned in my application for a deck replacement project on Tuesday morning
(09/03/2013), the lady at the counter (DADAMSKI) indicated that it would take two — three
weeks for the review process. As that was a little longer than I had expected, I asked her if there
were anyway that process could be shortened and she suggested that I contact you today to see
if you would be so kind as to expedite my project.
The project is a relatively simple deck replacement that more or less replicates the existing deck
with some minor differences. Its elevation is roughly 9' at it's highest to the deck floor. The
application includes a plan designed by an architect along with his engineering calculations.
I've tried to supply you with every thing you need so your review of the plan won't take long.
If you could take a quick look and see if the plan is simple enough that you could issue the
permit for this project the first of next week (09/09/2013), it would really help me out with my
client and I would really appreciate it.

I talked with an engineer at TM Rippey today along with my Architect and I was unable to
answer some of the questions they were asking me about the additional information you are
looking for.
Would you be so kind as to reply to this email and provide me with a list of the information you
wish to see added to my application? It will help me to order the correct items from the engineer
I contract with to provide the required data.

The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Residential Specialty Code
(ORSC) 2011 edition. Please respond to conditions below.
1) Requirements for decks built with Tigard's typical deck details require that the
deck be a single span (not more than eight feet), one level deck. This is not
the case with your deck. Not having any other options for prescriptive decks
your deck must be laterally engineered.
2) Please provide cut section detail of deck to determine height and framing
details.
3) All footings shall be installed a minimum of 12" in the ground.
4) Note: Inspector will verify #1 DF grade used in beam calcs.
When responding, provide an itemized letter stating in what way each numbered
issue has been addressed in the revision.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of Tigard
in tracking and processing the documents.
