The monopole is located in the Progress area south of Beaverton, Oregon at 10185 NW Cascade Blvd. The monopole is constructed of two tapered 12 -sided pipe sections, manufactured by Valmont/Microflect (Order#12317 -95) of Salem, Oregon and erected in 1995. We had performed an original analysis in October of 2003 with revisions in April and May of 2004 for various changes in the antenna configurations that were necessary to keep the monopole from overstressing. Our final run was to limit the Verizon Wireless panel antennas on the existing pole to (2) Antel BXA- 80063/8 panels per each sector installed at about the 50- feet level. Any larger antennas or increased height was overstressing the monopole. We understand now that the Qwest antennas at the 75 -foot level will be removed which opens up more capacity in the monopole. The latest revision in the Verizon panel antennas is to retain the three - sectors with (2) panels per sector but raise them to the 60 -foot level. The Qwest antennas and externally mounted coax cables will be removed. All antennas included in the revised analysis are as follows: • (9) EMS RR65 -19 or similar panels at top mini - platform arranged in 3- sectors with (18) 7/8 inch internally located coax cables (T- Mobile Wireless). • (3) Proposed Verizon Antel BXA- 80063/8 Panels arranged in 3- sectors with internal 7/8 inch coax cables, mounted on stand -off sector mounts near the 60 -foot level. • (3) Proposed Verizon Antel BXA- 185060/12 Panels arranged in 3- sectors with internal 7/8 inch coax cables, mounted on stand -off sector mounts near the 60 -foot level. MONOPOLE ANALYSIS RESULTS A computer analysis of the monopole was performed to assess its structural performance under the current design standard, ANSI/TIA/EIA 222 -F. All antenna and member wind loads were per the ANSIITIA/EIA 222 -F recommendations. The allowable member stresses were per the ANSI/TIA/EIA 222 -F, which references the AISC "Manual of Steel Construction, Allowable Stress Design, 9 edition ". The ANSI/TIA/EIA 222 -F and the AISC allow a 33% increase in allowable stress for wind loading on poles less than 700 feet tall. 'Letter to Leah Fredericks — POR Robbins Monopole Analysis May 3, 2005 Page 2 The design wind speed used for analysis is 85 mph concurrent with 1/2 -inch of radial ice coating all member and antenna surfaces per the original design drawings. This is the loading criteria used by the manufacturer and is equivalent to about 10 mph more than the TIA 222 -F recommendations for Washington County. Our analysis of the monopole for the 85 mph load case with ice included all the existing top T- Mobile antennas and the proposed Verizon antennas at the 60 -foot level. We omitted the existing Qwest antennas which we understand will be removed prior to or during the Verizon installation. The maximum stress level occurred at the bottom section of the monopole and was 89% of the allowable capacity with the Verizon antennas at the 60 -foot level. This demonstrates that the monopole would be capable of supporting the proposed Verizon panels at the 60 -foot level with some reserve capacity for additional antennas or modified sizes. Refer to the member stress summaries and monopole reactions listed on the attached computer output on End-15 and End-17 and maximum usage listed on End-19. FOUNDATION ANALYSIS RESULTS The drilled concrete pier foundation was designed by Portland General Electric as part of their original installation. It was designed to resist a vertical (axial) load of 18.5 . kips and a bending moment of 1400 ft-kips. The maximum vertical reaction of 13 kips and bending moment of 613 ft -kips are about 70% and 44% of the allowable reactions, respectively. Refer to the reactions shown on End-11 and End-13. This indicates that the foundation is adequate to support the added antenna loads with sufficient reserve for additional antennas. CONCLUSION The results of our revised structural analysis for the existing 100 -foot Master Towers monopole located at 10185 NW Cascade Blvd near Scholls Ferry Road in the Progress area of Beaverton, indicate that the proposed (6) Verizon Wireless panel antennas may be safely installed at the 60 -foot level with no upgrading required. • We have analyzed the tower assuming that all the Qwest antennas and cables at the 75 -foot level will be removed by the time the Verizon antennas are installed. We have enjoyed working with you on this project. If you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to call.
