Dear Mr. Bingham:
A fire and life safety plan review was conducted on the above captioned
project for compliance with the 1985 editions of the. Uniform Building Code
(UBC), Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), and Uniform Fire Code (UFC) as amended
by Tualatin Rural Fire Protection District's Ordinance 86 -5.
Plans are conditionally approved subject to the following items:
1. Automatic Fire Protection: Automatic fire protection shall be
extended to the oven. Please provide this department with not less
than 3 sets of plans for review' and approval.

2. Operation Inspection: Prior to operation of this oven, an inspection
shall be made for code compliance installation.
3. Oven Installation: As there was not much detail on the oven itself, I
am including pages - 155 and 156 from the UFC relating to industrial
baking and drying ovens. A careful review of these items in
comparison to the unit being installed is recommended as the Field
Inspector will be utilizing these sections to guide him through the
installation inspections. Also NFPA Standard 86 covering Safety
Features of Industrial Ovens, covers instruction and safety features
and. operations.
4. Approved Plans on Job Site: One set of approved plans bearing the
stamps of the Tigard Building Department and this office must be
maintained on the project site throughout all phases of construction
and must be made available to building and fire inspectors for
reference during required construction inspections. (UBC Sec. 303)

5. Inspections Required: Inspection and approval, of construction b}.a
representative of this office is required: (a) prior to the cover of
any new framing elements following the installation of all utility
runs which will be concealed within wall and partition cavities; (b)
upon completion of construction and prior to occupancy of the tenant
space. (UBC Sec. 305)

THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION, EXCLUSIVE OF THOSE NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH FIRE
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AS LISTED HEREIN, ARE PROHIBITED WITHOUT THE WRITTEN
AUTHORIZATION OF THE WASHINGTON COUNTY BUILDING, DEPARTMENT AND THIS OFFICE.
