If after laying out components you see that you are missing a part from the attached "parts chart" please call (800) 782 -0500 for further instruction. • Ground sleeve should be installed 28 hours prior to flagpole erection. For ground sleeve foundation dimensions refer to back page of installation guide. STEP 1 - Lay out unwrapped pole on cribbing or other wood support on ground. If pole is in two or more sections, carefully lay out sections in proper order (If installing more than one flagpole of two or more sections at location, make sure to properly group sections of each pole). Field joints slide together easily if lined up accurately. Do not have rope pre strung through sections before sliding together as this may pinch rope between sections and result in a poor fit or jam. Lubricate joint lightly with silicone or dish washing liquid. Slide sections together (may require using a sledge hammer on larger poles - use a wood block to protect pole from direct impact of hammer). STEP 2 - Identify parts and put them along the pole according to the diagram. (If pole is revolving truck style. refer to attached insert #00I) STEP 3 - Starting with the gold ball (part A), screw ball spindle into truck (part B). Do not grip ball to tighten, grip spindle /rod with vise grips and tighten. Tighten all nuts and set screws (use of a loc -tite type product is recommended on all connections) STEP 4 - Take the polypropylene rope (part G), feed it through the outer pulley of the stationary truck (part B) and over the centering pulley allowing the rope to be fed down the center of the pole. STEP 5 - Once the rope is fed down the center of the pole (may require fish tape), feed rope through the cam action cleat (part 2), once through this device pull excess rope through and lay it outside the pole for now. STEP 6 - Mount the stationary truck (part B). You will find set screws around the outer wall of this device. Once located, slide truck and ball assembly onto the top of the pole and fasten the set screws tightly against the flagpole. This should set the truck and keep it from moving. STEP 7 - Attach the quick link (part E) to the thimble which is the metal loop on the end of the rope (outside top of pole). Attach one snap hook (part F) to quicklink (this snap hook will connect to lowest grommet of flag). Once attached, hook one end of the retainer ring (part C) to the quick link, then go around the pole with the retainer ring and attach other end to the quick link so that the retainer ring makes a complete circle around the pole. Before you tighten the quick link nut, hook the counter weight (part D) onto the quick link then tighten the nut down on the quick link securing all these parts to the end of the halyard. STEP 8 - Fasten top snap hook (part F) to the rope according to the size of your flag. STEP 9 - Before standing the pole slide the flash collar (part H) over the end of the pole and up to the access door ( To • prevent the flash collar from sliding down the pole, place a piece of tape on the underside of the flash collar and against the pole). STEP 10 - Stand pole into ground sleeve that was previously cemented into place (May require crane or backhoe for larger poles. Always choke multiple section poles below lowest joint as a safety precaution). STEP 11 - Plumb pole within ground sleeve with wood shims. Pour dry sandbox type sand to fill ground sleeve 1/4 full. Check for plumb at this point then fill sleeve to 1/2 full. If pole is not plumb, push pole in appropriate direction while gently tapping butt of pole with rubber mallet so as to shift sand. When plumb, finish filling sleeve with sand. When the space between the pole and the sleeve is filled, tap the base of the pole with the rubber mallet. This will allow the sand to settle, securing the pole from moving. It is alright to leave or remove wood shims. STEP 12 - Now put silicone over the top of the sand to seal out moisture. Silicone should cover all sand from pole to sleeve (Sand should be I" below top of sleeve to allow space for silicone). STEP 13 - Finally, untape the flash collar and gently slide it to the base of the pole. Use a matching color silicone to seal the space between the pole and the flash collar. :. .• PARTS CHART A - Ball I ,: T\.
