The plans show 2'x2'x6' ecology blocks, stacked up to 3 blocks high, retaining a slope of approximately 2H:1 V. The wall is in a U- shaped configuration and 64 feet in length. The wall is embedded one foot and retains up to 5 feet. We recommend revising the plans for a 2.5'x2.5'x5' Loc Bloc wall system stacked only 2 blocks high with a minimum embedment of 6 inches and a maximum retained height of 4 feet The upper block should be an L- shaped top block as shown in the attached figure. Calculations for wall stability are also attached. The wall subgrade should be reviewed by ADaPT prior to placement of a minimum of 12 inches of compacted crushed base. Density tests should be performed on the gravel base. Compaction should achieve a minimum of 90 percent of the maximum dry density obtained by the modified Proctor.
