I have attached a brochure for your use. The brochure does not describe some of the concerns that I believe the
city of Tigard may have.
Apex is a custom plastic fabricator (think of us as a combination cabinet shop and machine shop for plastics). We
typically do 3 types of work;
1. We buy plastic in sheets (like plywood) or in a rod or pipe form. We take this plastic and then cut and
machine it into shapes such as a gear or a bracket. Sometimes we just sell these machined
components.
2. Sometimes we are asked to take these machined shapes and put them together into an item such as
a cart, a sink, a tank, or a cabinet. We use hot air to weld the plastic together.
3. Sometimes we are asked to take a cabinet or a sink that we have built, and to integrate it with valves,
pumps, tubing, spray nozzles etc. into an assembly. This integration is usually done in our cleanroom
so the customer is assured of a clean product.
Apex had a very clean manufacturing operation;
o We do not create any fumes (such as in a fiberglass shop)
We do not create any dust (such as in a wood working shop)
We do not produce any bi- products
We do not have a waste stream
o We do not produce anything that needs to be treated or neutralized
We do not paint or finish our parts
Describe work to be performed in clean room;
• We will be assembling various components into a finished product, typically these items are be pumps,
• valves, tubing, piping, wiring etc.
We will be using heat guns (typically around 375° F) to soften and then bend plastic tubing into custom
configurations.

o We will be using special pipe welding equipment to weld plastic pipe together.
Apex does not use chemicals in our manufacturing process;
Sometimes we use small amounts of IPA or lacquer thinner to wipe down and clean the plastic that needs
to be welded. Quantities are less than 5 gallons and are stored in an OSHA approved Flammable Liquid
Storage Cabinet.
Here are some excerpts from the 2008 Oregon State Fire Marshal Hazardous Substance Information Survey:
• NO Hazardous substances present at this site in reportable quantities.
• NO Extremely Hazardous Substances present at this site.
• The facility is NOT subject to reporting requirements of Section 112 (r) of the Clean Air Act.
• The facility is NOT subject to the Process Safety Management substance requirement of OR-
OSHA.
