The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. 1. Ductwork shall be supported in accordance with Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors National Association, Inc. (SMACNA) 2. Attics containing appliances shall be provided with an opening and unobstructed passageway large enough to allow removal of the largest component of the appliance. The passageway shall not be less than 30 inches high and 22 inches wide and not more than 20 feet (6096 mm) in length. The passageway shall have continuous solid flooring not less than 24 inches wide. A level service space not less than 30 inches deep and 30 inches wide shall be present at the front or service side of the equipment. Exceptions: 1. The passageway and level service space are not required where the appliance is capable of being serviced and removed through the required opening. Where the passageway is not less than 6 feet high for its entire length, the passageway shall be not greater than 50 feet in length. OMSC C306.3 3. A lighting fixture controlled by a switch located at the required passageway opening and a receptacle outlet shall be provided at or near the equipment location in accordance with the ICC Electrical Code. OMSC C306.3.1 4. Plastic pipe and fittings used to vent appliances shall be installed in accordance with the pipe manufacturer's installation instructions and the appliance manufacturer's installation instructions. Solvent cement joints between ABS pipe and fittings shall be cleaned. Solvent cement joints between CPVC and PVC pipe and fittings shall be primed. The primer shall be a contrasting color. Exception: Where compliance with this section would conflict with the appliance manufacturer's installation instructions. Where floors, walls, ceilings or any other portion of the building or structure are required to be altered or replaced in the process of installing or repairing any system, the building or structure shall be left in a safe structural condition in accordance with the Building Code. OMSC 302 6. The cutting, notching and boring of framing members shall comply with OMSC Sections 302.3.1 through 302.5.3. 7. Appliances shall be accessible for inspection, service, repair or replacement without removal of permanent construction. OMSC 306.1 8. Manufacturer's installation instructions shall be available on the jobsite at the time of inspection. OMSC 304.1 9. Condensate from cooling coils or evaporators shall be collected and discharged to an approved plumbing fixture or disposal area. 307.1 OMSC 10. Mercury Thermostats. The State of Oregon prohibits the installation of thermostats that contain mercury in commercial and residential buildings. "In accordance with ORS 455.355, the disposal of thermostats that contain mercury shall be in accordance with programs established by thermostat manufacturers, their representative or distributor, or by delivery to sites that will ensure that the mercury does not become part of the solid waste stream or wastewater." 11. Smoke detectors shall be installed in return air systems with a design capacity greater than 2000 cfm. Upon activation, the smoke detector shall shut down the air distribution system. Smoke detectors shall be connected to a fire alarm system and shall activate an audible and visible alarm at a constantly attended location. 606.2, 606.4 & 606.4.1 Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property. When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal.
