L Series Packaged Gas Heat/Cooling -13 to 30 Tons / Page 11 MAU -1 KITCHEN HOOD MAKEUP HEATER Page 12 • 0 3 ✓rte a E1 a• NHMUA SERIES DIRECT GAS FIRED HEATER The Captive -Aire System Direct Gas Fired Heater is an ETL Listed, direct fired gas burning unit for use in tempering make -up air for installations requiring frequent air changes. The units conform to ANSI Z83.4- 1999 /CSA 3.7 -M99 Standards and produce up to 1,000,000 BTU /HR, depending on heating requirements. Units are designed for natural or propane gas applications. The heaters are intended for indoor or outdoor installations in commercial kitchens, factories, foundries and similar commercial and industrial occupancies where unvented open -flame combustion equipment is permitted. They are intended to be installed and used in accordance with the Standards of the National Fire Protection Association, NFPA No.54 and the National Fuel Gas Code. ADVANTAGES • ETL Listed - The unit is ETL Listed for discharge in the downflow or horizontal positions and in combination with a centrifugal upblast exhaust fan. • Controls for Standalone or Integrated Operation - Each unit is equipped with controls having the capabilities of stand alone operation or interfacing with the total integrated system controls including additional fans, hood light controls and the fire system. These controls are located either in a UL Listed Control Panel installed in the ventilation hood's utility cabinet or in a stainless steel remote panel. • Solid Construction - Heater consist of a galvanized casing. • Direct Heating - An elevated burner directly heats fresh air. A centrifugal blower introduces the heated air into the building. • Redundant Safety Controls - Units are equipped with redundant safety controls. In the event of flame loss, all gas is shut off to the burner. Units are factory assembled, tested and shipped as a complete package, consisting of the following: o Gas burner o Centrifugal blower o Motor and adjustable drive assembly o Fuel burning safety equipment o Temperature control system o Gas piping o Contactor and overload o External service disconnect o Intake hood with easily removable 2" thick, UL Listed, cleanable Class 2 filters o An observation port is located on the exterior of the unit to observe the main flame. The unit is provided with two access doors for easy access to the Electrical Controls and Blower /Motor Assembly. Page 13 NH UA SERIES DIRECT GAS FIRED HEATER FEATURES • FACTORY PRE -WIRE OF SELF SUPPORTING UNIT - houses all factory pre -wired controls for normal operation. Field wiring requirements include main power connections to controls and fan motors and interlock with exhaust or other fans and /or a fire system. • REMOTE CONTROL PANEL FOR WALL MOUNTING - panels contain Summer/ Winter Switch (Heat /No Heat), Temperature Selector, and Indicator Lights. Indicator lights signify power, airflow, flame detection and safety lockout. A wiring schematic and terminal connection detail is included in the package. • OUTSIDE AIR THERMOSTAT - provides an automatic function used to start gas flow to the burner when the inlet air temperature has fallen below a desired setting. Also stops gas flow to the burner when inlet air has risen above desired setting. • MOTORIZED BACK DRAFT DAMPER - prevents ambient air from entering the building when the heater unit is not in operation. The damper is installed in the intake of the heated make up air unit. The damper is opened by a UL Listed motor driven by a 120 volt current. Once the damper is open, the proving switch (located in the damper) closes and allows current to continue to the heater controls. • ROOF CURBS - constructed of 18 gauge aluminized metal with 1 -inch thick, UL Listed, Class 1 foil faced fiberglass duct insulation. Available for flat or pitched roofs. • HIGH AND LOW PRESSURE SWITCHES - shut off the gas to the burner in the event of high or low gas pressure. BLOWERS, MOTORS, AND DRIVES • Blowers are forward curved, belt driven, double inlet, centrifugal type and contain permanently lubricated bearings. Blowers are covered with an enamel finish. Blower sizes range from 10 inch to 25 inch wheel diameter. • Blowers are factory tested and set at rated speed after installation in the factory assembled unit. Blower shafts are equipped with keyways. • The blower compartment is completely insulated with UL Listed Class 1 foil -faced fiberglass insulation, 1 inch thick. • Motor pulley is adjustable for balancing CFM's. • UL Recognized motors are open drip proof type with adjustable drives and motor mount. Adjustable cast iron pulleys and heavy duty belt(s) are standard. • Motor shafts have keyways. • A Discharge Air Sensor measures discharge air temperature and sends a signal back to the controller which modulates the gas flow to achieve desired temperature(not shown). BURNER • The gas burner is a direct -fired, draw through type, and is sized to provide the desired output using natural or propane gas at an inlet supply pressure to the unit of 7" water column (natural gas) or 11 "(propane). • The gas burner provides a maximum temperature rise of 125 °F. For example, outside air of -30 °F. can be heated to +95 °F. • The burner consists of non - clogging, stainless steel combustion baffles attached to a cast iron gas supply section with no moving parts. The burner is capable of 100% thermal efficiency with a maximum turndown ratio of 30 to 1. • A flamerod flame detection system is used to prove flame. • A Spark Igniter provides spark to initiate combustion. WIRING AND ELECTRICAL • The control circuit voltage is 115 VAC. • Wiring in control enclosures is in accordance with the National Electrical Code. i °..° ! -- ' 800 965 0420 Captive -Aire Systems, Inc. reserves the right to modify the design, materials, and /or specifications as a result of code requirements or product enhancements resulting from the Company's ongoing research and development. Standard Halogen PAR CAPSYLITE SPL Optics CAPSYLITE SPL Optical System CAPSYLITE SPL lamps employ a patented spiral lenticule layout on their lenses. These patterns were computer designed to deliver a smooth, round beam pattern that is free from hot spots and stray light. The new lenses, however, are only half of the story. The new spiral flat reflectors were also computer designed to work in concert with the lenses. The spiral flats on the inner surface of the reflector begin to shape and contour the light rays before they reach the lens. The reflector and the lens, therefore, share the job of controlling the light so that the resultant beam pattern is as smooth as possible. The optical system maximizes the lumens in the beam angle, while providing consistent lamp -to -lamp performance.
