Correspondence February 17, 2006 Wyatt Fire Protection 9095 SW Burnham Tigard, OR 97223 RE: FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM Project Information Building Permit: BUP2006 -00083 Construction Type: NA Tenant Name: Metro Park Occupancy Type: M Address: 9681 SW Washington Square road Occupant Load: NA Hazard: Ordinary Group II The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC) 2004 edition; National Fire Protection Association, Standard 13 (NFPA 13)1999 edition and the State of Oregon Fire Code (OFC) 2004 edition. The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. GENERAL 1. A supply of spare sprinklers (never less than 6) shall be maintained on the premises so that any sprinklers that have operated or been damaged in any way can be promptly replaced. These sprinklers shall correspond to the types and temperature ratings of the sprinklers on the property. Section 3 -2.9.1 NFPA 13. 2. A special sprinkler wrench shall be provided and kept in the sprinkler cabinet along with the spare sprinklers to be used in the removal and installation of sprinklers. Section 3- 2.9.2 NFPA 13. 3. The clearance between the deflector and the top of storage shall be 18 inches or greater. The distance shall be increased to 36 inches for special sprinkler heads. Section 5 -5.6 NFPA 13. 4. Sprinklers shall be located a minimum of 4 inches from walls and spaced not less than 6 feet on center. Sections 5 -6.3.3 & 5 -6.3.4 NFPA 13. 5. Clearances shall be provided around all piping extending through platforms, foundations, walls and floors. The diameter of the hole shall be 2 inches larger than the penetrating pipe for pipe sizes 1 inch through 3 '/2 inches. The diameter of the hole shall be 4 inches larger than the penetrating pipe for pipe sizes 4 inches and larger. Section 6- 4.4.1 NFPA 13. 6. All valves controlling the water supply for automatic sprinkler systems and all water flow monitoring devices shall be electrically monitored when the system serves more than 20 heads. Section 903.4 OFC 7. An approved audible sprinkler flow alarm shall be provided on the exterior of the building in an approved location. Such sprinkler water -flow devices shall be activated by water flow equivalent to the flow of a single sprinkler of the smallest orifice size installed in the system. Section 903.4.2 OFC Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal.
