The purpose of the review was to ascertain the capacity of the system and its ability to carry the weight of electrical fixtures. A summary of our review follows: The structure is 12' -6" wide by 28' -0" long. It is composed of seven, 4 foot wide ACM panels that are supported along the 12' -6" edges by curved aluminum extrusions. The extrusions are then supported every 3 feet by wires attached to the roof structure. The shipping weight of the entire assembly was reported to be 341 pounds or a total distributed weight of about 1 psf. If we assume another 341 pounds for light fixtures, etc., then our total weight would be about 2 psf. Per UBC Section 2504.3 the hangers specified in Table 25 -A are to be used in suspending ceilings. These hangers are valid for ceiling assemblies weighing up to 10 psf. Since this ceiling assembly is substantially less than 10 psf, we are of the opinion that the standard hangers specified in Table 25 -A are more than adequate to suspend this ceiling and the associated electrical fixtures.
