RE: Swimming pool application
The City of Tigard Building Division has reviewed the submitted building plans for the above
referenced address in accordance with the Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC), 1998
edition and the State of Oregon (2000 edition) One and Two Dwelling Specialty Code.
Upon reviewing your application it was determined that a large portion of your back yard, where
you plan to place the proposed swimming pool is on uncontrolled nonstructural fill.
City of Tigard is requiring you obtain the services of a Soil Engineer, to perform tests, and
evaluations of the onsite soil conditions. The Soil Engineer shall address recommendations for
the placement of a swimming pool within five feet from the top of a rock retaining structure
(potentially imposing a surcharge from the pool).
Upon review of your site utilities easements, and conversations with yourself, there is a potential
that the sewer line serving your residence may presently lay under the proposed swimming pool
location running to the rear of your property.
Please locate and pot hole the sewer line in ten (10') foot intervals so the Senior Plumbing
Inspector can verify the proper pipe and depth prior to issuance of any additional permits.
Due to the items identified as noted above the plan review has been terminated until the items
have been properly addressed. Please submit revised site plans showing pool location to wall and
two copies of the soils engineer's report and recommendations.
