Luke,
The Glu- Laminated Beams called out in the approved plans are 2400F -V8. We want to change all the
Glu- Laminated Beams to be 2400F -V4. The reason for this is 2400F -V8 has about 3 weeks lead time
and 2400F -V4 can be obtained the next day. Can you please review the drawing and make the
changes so that we can obtain the beams and have them installed before we backfill. If we do not
backfill the footing and foundation soon, the rain water will collect at the footing and that will weaken the
integrity and the strength of the structure. Your prompt respond would be greatly appreciated.

Attached are portions of the updated drawing of the basement plan and stair sections
addressing the issue of a one hour fire rated enclosure for the basement stairs. In general, I
have added one hour fire rated doors at the basement level stairway entries, and indicated a
wall type "2B" to the enclosure of these stairs. The fire resistive rated wall is shown to extend
from the basement floor slab to the underside of the first floor sheathing; the assembly must
close tight to the sheathing and to the floor framing.
In addition, I have noted the following changes in the walls and ceiling of the basement:
1. Walls —'/2" gyp board noted as optional; insulation and vapor barrier noted as optional
if the basement is not heated; if the basement is heated, the insulation and vapor barrier
is required; the vapor barrier should be installed on the warm (interior) side of the
insulation.
2. Ceiling —' /2" gyp board is noted as optional; insulation is noted as optional if the
basement is heated; if the basement is not heated, the insulation is required.
