Stories: 3 The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC) 2004 edition; National Fire Protection Association, Standard 13 (NFPA 13)2002 edition and the State of Oregon Fire Code (OFC) 2004 edition. The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. SYSTEMS ACCEPTANCE NFPA 13 TEST CERTIFICATE Complete and sign the appropriate contractor's material and test certificate found in chapter 16 of the - NFPA 13 document. HYDROSTATIC TESTING All piping and attached appurtenances shall be hydrostatically tested at 200 psi and shall maintain that pressure without loss for 2 hours. The test pressure shall be read from a gauge located at the low elevation point of the system or portion being tested. Section10.10.2.2.1 & Section 10.10.2.2.3 NFPA 13. WATERFLOW DEVICE Waterflow detecting devices including the associated alarm circuits shall be flow tested through the inspector's test connection and shall result in an audilble alarm on the premises within 5 minutes after such flow begins and until such flow stops. DRY PIPE A working test of the dry pipe valve alone and with a quick- opening device, if installed, shall be made by opening the inspector's test connection. GENERAL 1. A key box shall be installed in a location approved by the Fire Chief. The key box shall be of an approved type and shall contain keys to gain necessary access as required by the fire code official. A supply of spare sprinklers (never less than 6) shall be maintained on the premises so that any sprinklers that have operated or been damaged in any way can be promptly . These sprinklers shall correspond to the types and temperature ratings of the sprinklers on the property. Sections 6.2.9.1 & 6.2.9.2 NFPA 13. 3. The spare sprinklers shall be kept in a cabinet located where temperatures will not exceed 100 degrees "F" at any time. A special sprinkler wrench shall be provided and kept in the sprinkler cabinet to be used in the removal and installation of sprinklers. Sections 6.2.9.3 & 6.2.9.6 NFPA 13. 4. The clearance between the deflector and the top of storage shall be 18 inches or greater. Section 8.6.6.1 NFPA 13. The distance shall be increased to 36 inches for Large Drop sprinkler heads. Section 8.11.6 NFPA 13 5. Sprinklers shall be located a minimum of 4 inches from walls and spaced not less than 6 feet on center. Sections 8.6.3.3 & 8.6.3.4.1 NFPA 13. 6. Clearances shall be provided around all piping extending through platforms, foundations, walls and floors. The diameter of the hole shall be 2 inches larger than the penetrating pipe for pipe sizes 1 inch through 3 1/2 inches. The diameter of the hole shall be 4 inches larger than the penetrating pipe for pipe sizes 4 inches and larger. Sections 9.3.4.1 & 9.3.4.2 NFPA 13. 7. All valves controlling the water supply for automatic sprinkler systems and all water flow monitoring devices shall be electrically monitored when the system serves more than 20 -- heads. Section 903.4 OFC 8. An approved audible sprinkler flow alarm shall be provided on the exterior of the building in an approved location. Such sprinkler water -flow devices shall be activated by water flow equivalent to the flow of a single sprinkler of the smallest orifice size installed in the system. Section 903.4.2 OFC 9. The system piping shall be braced to resist both lateral and longitudinal horizontal seismic loads and to prevent vertical motion resulting from seismic loads. 9.3.5.1.1 NFPA13 Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
