A steel beam (W18x40) and GL beam (5.125x10.5) have been added for vertical support. A new shear wall with plywood each face has been added in line with the existing rear wall. In addition tto the new shear wall the ceiling of the expansion has been sheathed with plywood to form an extended lateral diaphragm to the new exterior wall. The foundations have been underpinned at the two support locations for the new W18x40 beam. The existing grade must be suitable for foundation support.
