Rockingham Drive, Tigard Permit #MST1999 -00332 Builder: George Wall Construction SUBJECT: Wall stud height. This letter, again, addresses the extra high wall studs at the Garage. This letter is not a stand alone replacement for the engineering. and is in addition to the letter dated 12- 15 -99. Engineering: 1. The studs shall that are 15' -9" high shall be 2x6 at 16 inches o.c. This addresses the wind that hits the face of this wall. It does not mater what the sheathing is from this direction. 2. The wall shall be sheathed as an S/0 shearwall. This is as originally designed. This taller wall still meets the 3 -1/2:1 shearwall ratio. The originally designed wall only had loads of 48 PLF, well below the 260 PLF allowable for an S/0 wall. The wind loads will increase by 25% at the most, which means the wall has loads of 60 PLF. CONCLUSION: The 15' -9" wall shall be 2x6 at 16" o.c. with S shearwall nailing. Sincerely Payton F. Rowell P.E. 4 ,03 4.0 < 45Z F, 4332 ta " f 4 -9 24 yJ %b °iv F. 2`31,koo
