SCOPE OF WORK
Addition to an existing water flow detection and notification system. We are replacing and relocating notification devices
within this space with new lower amperage devices. Initiation system currently consists of monitored PIV tamper
switch(s), water flow switch(s) mounted on the water main riser, combination Smoke/heat detector(s), HVAC Duct Smoke
Detector(s) and dual action pull station(s) as noted. Each initiation type device is tied in to a group (alarm zone) of similar
type devices. On site notification is accomplished with one exterior 24VDC Hom/Strobe and interior notification devices
as Noted. Quantities and device locations are denoted on accompanying pages.
FACP and system meet all UFC STD 14 -1, NFPA 72, CSFM, FCC, and UL requirements for commercial fire protection,
wires will be running in similar directions will be in "trunks ". Wires will be run along walls, not across rooms. Horizontal
exposed wires, will above seven feet or those under seven feet will be in AHJ approved wire mold or conduit, as per
NEC 760- 28(b)(1). Holes through fire rated walls for wires will have conduit installed and will be tight having no annular
space, or alternately will be filled with fire caulking as per UBC 4304 exception (e) . When applicable, we will provide a
"FIRE ALARM INSIDE" sign, a FACP key to be incorporated with in a "KNOX BOX" and a sign displaying detailed
instructions regarding "ALARM RESET" and ALARM SILENCE procedures.

Architect /Engineer Specifications
General
SpectrAlert Advance horns, strobes and horn/strobes shall mount to a standard 4 x 4 x lib-inch back box, 4 -inch octagon back box or double -gang back
box. Two -wire products shall also mount to a single -gang 2 x 4 x 1 -inch back box A universal mounting plate shall be used for mounting ceiling and wall
products.The notification appliance circuit wiring shall terminate at the universal mounting plate. Also, SpectrAlert Advance products, when used with the
SyncGrcuit Module accessory, shall be powered from a non -coded notification appliance circuit output and shall operate on a nominal 12 or 24 volts. When
used with the SyncGrcuit Module, 12 -volt rated notification appliance drcuit outputs shall operate between nine and 17.5 volts; 24 -volt rated notification
appliance circuit outputs shall operate between 17 and 33 volts Indoor SpectrAiert Advance products shall operate between 32 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit
from a regulated DC, or full -wave rectified, unfiltered power supply. Strobes and horn/strobes shall have field - selectable candela settings including 15,15/75, 30,
75, 95, 110,115, 135, 150,177, 185.
Strobe
The strobe shall be a System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance Model listed to UL 1971 and shall be approved for fire protective service. The strobe shall be
wired as a primary- signaling notification appliance and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements for visible signaling appliances, flashing at
1Hz over the strobe's entire operating voltage range. The strobe light shall consist of a xenon flash tube and associated lens/reflector system.
Horn /Strobe Combination
The horn/strobe shall be a System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance Model listed to UL 1971 and UL 464 and shall be approved for fire protective service.
The horn/strobe shall be wired as a primary- signaling notification appliance and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements for visible
signaling appliances, flashing at 1Hz over the strobe's entire operating voltage range. The strobe light shall consist of a xenon flash tube and assodated
lens/reflector system The horn shall have three audibility options and an option to switch between a temporal three - pattern and a non - temporal (continuous)
pattern These options are set by a multiple position switch. On four -wire products, the strobe shall be powered Independently of the sounder.The horn on
horn/strobe models shall operate on a coded or non -coded power supply.
Outdoor Products
SpectrAlert Advance outdoor horns, strobes and horn/strobes shall be listed for outdoor use by UL and shall operate between minus 40 degrees and 151
degrees Fahrenheit. The products shall be listed for use with a System Sensor outdoor /weatherproof back box with half inch and three- fourths inch conduit
entries.
Synchronization Module
The module shall be a System Sensor Sync.Circuit model MDL listed to UL 464 and shall be approved for fire protective service. The module shall synchronize
SpectrAlert strobes at 1Hz and horns at temporal three. Also, while operating the strobes, the module shall silence the horns on horn/strobe models over a
single pair of wires. The module shall mount to a 4 x 4r' /i x 2r /a -inch back box The module shall also control two StyleY (dass B) circuits or one Style Z
(class A) circuit The module shall synchronize multiple zones Daisy chaining two or more synchronization modules together will synchronize all the zones they
control. The module shall not operate on a coded power supply.

Architects and Engineers Specifications
The audible /visual notification appliance shall be Wheelock Series HS4 Horn Strobe and HS Horn Appliances or approved equals. The
Series HS4 and HS appliance shall meet ad be listed for UL Standard 1971 (Emergency Devices for the Hearing- Impaired for Indoor
Fire Protection Service) and Standard 464 (Fire Protective Signaling). The horn strobe shall be listed for indoor use and shall meet
' the requirement of FCC Part 15 Class B. All inputs shall be compatible with standard reverse polarity supervision of circuit wiring by
the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP).
The HS Horn and the audible portion of the HS4 appliance shall have a minimum of three (3) field selectable setting for dBA levels and
• shall have a choice of continuous or temporal (Code 3) audible outputs.
The strobe portion of the appliance shall produce a flash rate of one (1) flash per second over the Regulated Voltage Range and shall
incorporate a Xenon flashtube enclosed in a rugged Lexan ® lens. The Series HS4 shall be of low current design. Where wall mount,
Multi - Candela appliances are specified, the strobe intensity shall have field selectable settings and shall be rated per UL Standard 1971
for: 15/30/75/110cd or 135/185cd. The selector switch for selecting the candela setting shall be tamper resistant The 1575 candela
strobe shall be specified when 15 candela UL Standard 1971 Listing with 75 candela on -axis is required. Where ceiling mount, multi-
candela appliances are specified, the strobe intensity shall have field selectable settings and shall be rated per UL standard 1971 for
15/30/75/95cd or 115/177cd.
When synchronization is required, the appliance shall be compatible with Wheelock's SM, DSM Sync Modules or Wheelock PS- 24-8MC
Power Supplies with built -in Patented Sync Protocol. The strobes shall not drift out of synchronization at any time during operation. If
the sync module or Power Supply fails to operate, (i.e., contacts remain closed), the strobes shall revert to a non - synchronized flash -
rate.
All notification appliances shall be backward compatible.
