Site Class B) 1.0 0.332 (S1, Site Class B) r Design Summary: Scope: The calculations included in this package are for the lateral load base shear verification for the fasteners into the concrete used in the field that attach the base of the cooler box to the concrete slab. Our scope is for the shear capacity of the fastener into the concrete only, not the connection design of the cooler or the base screed of the cooler. Per a standard detail supplied from our client, the walls of the cooler box's screed are attached with 1/4" x1 112" drive anchors spaced at 24" on center (minimum 1 1/4" emedment). It is assumed that the drive anchors are a Simpson Nailon Pin Drive Anchor. Please note the following calculations indicate both a minimum 5 PSF pressure per IBC 2006, section 1607.13 and seismic lateral base shear calculation. The factor of safety of the pin connection to the concrete for shear is the following: 1) Minimum 5 PSF static pressure a factor of safety of 12.5 (ultimate load) 2) For seismic lateral loads a factor of safety of the pin is 38.8 (ultimate load). Additionally, please note that per the IBC 105.2, this building is considered work to be exempt from permit. It has a floor area that does not exceed 120 square feet.
