This report of carrying the new antenna p y ort was p commissioned by Mr. Andrew Tung of T- Mobile. The design for the existing structure is structurally satisfactory for the proposed loading configuration. The foundation reactions, with the proposed loading, were found to be less than the original tower reactions. Therefore, it is our opinion that the foundation will be adequate, if it was properly designed for the original tower reactions. Section Results Monopole %Capacity:. :,; . It was originally designed for Western Wireless PCS by Valmont Industries, Inc. of Valley, Nebraska. The monopole has three major sections connected by slip joints. It has 12 sides and is evenly tapered from 41" (flat -flat) at the base to 14.76" (flat -flat) at the top. The structure is galvanized and has no tower lighting. All structural information was provided by T- Mobile in the form of the original tower calculations by Valmont, dated April 30, 1996. The existing, reserved, and proposed antenna information was provided by T- Mobile USA. This analysis and report are based solely on this information. The purpose of this independent structural analysis review is to determine if the design for the existing tower, with the proposed configuration, is in conformance to the latest EIATTIA 222 -F standard requirements. GPD ASSOCIATES STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS REPORT PAGE 2 r • P001373B GREENBURG ANALYSIS The purpose of this structural analysis review is to determine if the design for the existing tower is in •- conformance to the latest code requirements. Wind loading was taken from the TIA/EIA -222 -F standard, which is required per the latest version of IBC (2003). Seismic loading was taken directly from the International Building Code. Wind loading and seismic loading were not applied concurrently. ERI Tower (Version v3.0.0.16), a commercially available software program, was used to create a three - dimensional model of the tower and calculate member stresses for various dead, live, wind, and ice load cases. All loads were computed in accordance with the ANSI/EIA/TIA -222 -F and all local building code requirements. Selected output from the analysis is included in Appendix 1. The current requirements of TIA/EIA -222 -F are for a fastest wind speed of 80 mph with %" of radial ice. A 25% reduction in wind load is allowed when wind and ice are applied simultaneously. TIA/EIA -222 -F requires towers within Washington County be analyzed with an 80 mph wind speed. (ANALYSIS FASTEST WIND SPEED: 80 MPH • The tower and foundations are assumed, for the purpose of this analysis, to have been properly maintained and to be in good condition with no structural defects. Seismic loads were calculated from hand calculations. It was determined from these calculations that the seismic loads do not control the maximum loading on the structure. The wind loading case will control. G PD ASSOCIATES STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS REPORT PAGE 3 • PO01373B GREENBURG CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Based on the computer structural analysis results, the design for the existing 130' monopole does meet the requirements of TIA/EIA -222 -F standards for a basic wind speed of 80 mph with 'h" of radial ice (with 25% reduction), along with the latest IBC seismic requirement, for the proposed antenna configuration. The foundation reactions, with the proposed loading, were found to be less than the original tower reactions. Therefore, it is our opinion that the foundation will be adequate, if it was properly designed for the original tower reactions. Summary of Findings Monopole Sat Foundation Adequate: Therefore, based on our analysis results, the design for the existing structure is structurally satisfactory for the proposed loading configuration. ti GPD ASSOCIATES STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS REPORT PAGE 4 P0013733 GREENBURG DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES The engineering services rendered by GPD ASSOCIATES in connection with this Structural Analysis are limited to a computer analysis of the tower structure, size and capacity of its members.
